With a passion for character-driven stories, this Edinburgh-based artist has written, directed, and produced an impressive body of work that spans across film, TV, theatre, and online platforms. With an exceptional talent for dialogue and an unwavering dedication to the art of storytelling, our guest takes us on a journey through his creative process, from 2D to 3D design, to bring his vivid and emotive characters to life. With a focus on existential themes and a keen eye for detail, our guest shares his unique insights and experiences, offering valuable advice and inspiration for aspiring animators and filmmakers. Join us as we delve into the mind of this talented artist and uncover the secrets behind his success.
Will explains that he takes a more intuitive approach to his work, rather than a structured one. He is motivated by the excitement of "just doing" and allowing the process to guide him. In this podcast episode, we delve deeper into the inspiration behind some of Will's extraordinary projects, such as "The Making of Longbird", "Monkey Love Experiments," and "A Cat Called Dom," among others.
As the king of geometry nodes, Will shares his experience and obsession with Blender and Moho animation software. On top of that, he has a Grease Pencil 2D Character Rigging Masterclass available on his website.
Through his work, Will personifies his feelings and emotions and uses it as a way to communicate a message to the world. His recent project, "A Cat Called Dom," will be shown at the Flatpack Festival in Birmingham this month. It portrays a meaningful message that we are sure the audience will love.
