'MY NAME IS LEON' WRITER COMES TO VISIT BIGTOOTH STUDIOS, THE LAUNCH OF A BRAND NEW YT SERIES, WE ATTEND MEDICINE BAKERY OPEN EVENT AND BIRMINGHAM DESIGN FEST AND JAMIE GETS A NEW POSITION.
We attended this year's Birmingham Design Fest held at The Innovation Centre and Birmingham City University. With over 40 hours of talks in one weekend, alongside workshops and exhibitions we wish we could have experienced more of what BDF had to offer. We were lucky enough to see a few talks, including one by the director of ‘Ron’s Gone Wrong’ Jean-Philippe Vine and a particularly fascinating and inspirational talk by Jocie Juritz, which left us wanting more. Jocie is an animator with a love for artistry in all forms, and a belief that creativity should be boundless with room for exploration and fluidity to transcend mediums and forms. Jocie has recently started her very own shoe brand inspired by her own animated design ideas for shoes.

'MY NAME IS LEON' AND A VISIT FROM KIT
Bigtooth’s Jamie Bakewell visited the IET: Austin Court for a panel discussion on the new BBC film ‘My Name is Leon’ adapted from Kit de Waal’s 2016 internationally best selling book. Alongside Kit, the panel consisted of Executive Producer Lenny Henry and Director Lynette Linton. Attendees were treated to sneak preview clips from the film which was released in full on June 10 on BBC Two.
Shortly after the release of ‘My Name is Leon’ Writer Kit de Waal and her brother Dean O’Loughlin dropped in to Bigtooth Studios to discuss exciting ideas for a future collaboration. It was great to have them over, and we were left feeling really inspired by their beautifully written script.
‘My Name is Leon’ is available to watch on BBC iPlayer
THE BEST MEDICINE
We were extremely excited to accept an invitation to the opening event of the brand new Medicine Bakery in The Lighthouse Cinema in Wolverhampton. The evening consisted of canapés, Mimosas and presentations about the plans and development of Wolverhampton’s business infrastructure. To end the evening, Medicine provided a generous buffet, including some of their famous Cronuts!
